Dr Abdelbary Elhissi

Abdelbary Elhissi is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics and the Head of Drug, Gene and Protein Delivery Research Group at the Institute of Nanotechnology and Bioengineering, School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Central Lancashire.

Abdelbary graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, October 6th University, Egypt in 1999 with Hons, distinction and had the highest grade in his year. He joined the School of Pharmacy, University of London as a PhD student and completed his PhD in Pharmaceutics in 2005 under the supervision of Professor Kevin Taylor and also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Clinical Pharmaceutics. In November 2006 he joined Lipoxen as a Senior Scientist.  Currently, Abdelbary is leading research in Drug Delivery and has established one of the largest groups in this field within the Institute of Nanotechnology and Bioengineering, University of Central Lancashire. Abdelbary’s group is currently working on development of lipid and polymer-based formulations for respiratory drug delivery and cancer treatment in collaboration with UCL-School of Pharmacy, University of London and West China School of Pharmacy, Sichuan University.

Professor Waqar Ahmed

I am the Head of Institute of Nanotechnology and Bioengineeirng at UCLAN. My research interest is in nanotechnology for applications that will improve the world in which we live. I am interested developing and maximising the potential of young people and turn them into leaders in research and in their communities. They will use thier talents and abilities to  make the world a better and happer place for everyone on all continents.


Sneha Subramanian

Hey… I am Sneha Subramanian and currently doing my PhD from University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Preston, UK. My research is based on the use of liposomes for pulmonary drug delivery which I started from October 2011. I am originally from Mumbai, India. I did my graduation in BSc (HONS) Biomedical Science from UCLan. I am very enthusiastic about my project and I love what I am doing. I also like to take responsibilities and improve my management skills. I am elected as the first chair person of the drug, gene and protein delivery research group in UCLan.

Urwashi Sharad Naik

Hi I am Urwashi Sharad Naik born in Nagpur,India.I have done my school life from Kendriya Vidyalaya,O.N.G.C. Panvel Mumbai till my Senior School Certificate Examination. After my plus 2,I joined D.Y.Patil university for my Bachelors.For completion of final year of my bachelors I came to UK on 16th Aug 2010. I completed my Bachelors in BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science from UCLAN, Preston. I am currently pursuing my masters from the same university as MSc (by Research) Pharmacy and Biomedical Science. My research topic is Enhanced skin permeation of nanosized, ultraflexible lipidic particulate systems.

Nozad Rashid

Nozad was born in Hawler city which is the capital of Kurdistan Region- Iraq. He completed BSc degree in Pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy/ Hawler Medical University/ Iraq in 2002, which was five years study and he received MSc degree in Pharmaceutical science from Hawler Medical University in collaboration with Vienna University- Austria in 2007 which was two years study. He has interested in pharmaceutics especially drug delivery. Currently he doing PhD study by research in “Microspheres formulation for brain targeting through the nasal route” from University of Central Lancashire, United Kingdom.
